What we do
The Futures Studies Channel, formerly JFS Futures Community of Practice, began with a simple but urgent belief: futures thinking is no longer a niche skill. It is a shared capacity that needs to be made widely accessible across classrooms, communities, and cultures.
We imagine a world where futures thinking is not confined to specialists or institutions, but is available to everyone. A world where it is introduced early, even in high school, and where any educator can engage with it freely, adapting methods, designing activities, and shaping learning experiences that resonate with their students. A world where insights from a small classroom in Malaysia can travel, inspire, and evolve in places as different as Ghana or the United States.
These are not distant ideals. They are questions we are actively working through.
The Futures Studies Channel, formerly the JFS Community of Practice, is our response to the growing need to democratise foresight. We are a global, open community of educators, practitioners, and curious learners who believe in sharing knowledge, experimenting with practice, and learning together.
Our work began with the Futures Studies in High School in Taiwan project, where we document classroom exercises, reflections, and real world experiences of teaching futures thinking. By sharing what works and what does not, we aim to support others in developing their own approaches that are grounded in context and care.
This is a space for ongoing dialogue. A place where ideas can be exchanged, methods can be reimagined, and diverse voices can come together to explore how futures thinking can be taught, lived, and practised.
We welcome contributions from teachers and practitioners around the world. Whether you are experimenting in a classroom, facilitating workshops, or simply exploring what futures thinking means, this is a space for you.
Together, we learn. Together, we imagine. Together, we shape what comes next.
